Con dos líneas temporales me gustó poder leer la historia de Emily Moon junto a la de Phoebe, tan diferentes entre sí pero con un propósito común de hacer lo correcto y necesario a quienes les hacen daño y violan la ley.
En el año 1799 tenemos a Emely Moon, una jovencita que es testigo de la muerte de su padre y que por desgracia ella no puede acusar al asesino por no poder hablar, no se explica exactamente qué es lo que se lo impide solo que por más que se esfuerza las palabras se le quedan atoradas cuando más las necesita y simplemente no logra articularlas. Se ayuda dibujando pero al ser considerada que está mal de la cabeza no le prestan atención. Su amigo y compañero de aventuras, Arthur será el único que le apoyara hasta el final aunque con ello se pongan los dos en peligro.
En tiempo presente nos encontraremos con Phoebe, una policía que después de un incidente en uno de sus trabajos que sale mal tiene que tomarse un tiempo de baja y se va a Cornwall a ayudar a su amiga que es enviada a administrar el pub que antes perteneció a la familia de Emily Moon.
Soy muy fan de los libros con dos líneas temporales, en este la lectura fluye y te mantiene con ganas de saber más de cada uno de los personajes principales en sus respectivas historias y tiempo. Y todo empieza a enlazarse desde el momento en que Phoebe llega al pub que pertenecía a la familia de Emily Moon, a partir de ahí las vidas de estas dos mujeres parecerán mezclarse de tal manera que querrás seguir leyendo para ver cómo acaba y se resuelve todo.
Ha sido mi primera lectura de esta autora pero no será la última.

I’ve also written two novels in association with Emmerdale, set in the village from the TV soap during WW2, and one in collaboration with Kew Gardens, with the second coming early next year.
