FOLLOWED - A spellbinding book of adventure, survival and love
The Path Followed series – Book 1
When Sophie learns that her husband Lincoln is deeply involved in a Nigerian scam, all she wants to do is escape to the wilderness, with her friend Emma. There she will have peace and quiet and be able to determine whether her marriage is worth fighting for.
On the two week hike with a group of seven, she finds herself drawn to Noah, one of the guides. His warm quiet strength makes him very different from her money-grabbing husband. Noah returns her feelings, but Sophie is torn. After all, she is still married.
As the two struggle to resist their attraction, events unfold that turn the hike into a nightmare in which Sophie must fight for her survival. Just as all danger seems past, Sophie finds herself in the worst danger of all: her husband’s deceits have followed her into the mountains.
This was a new author for me and I’m glad I came cross to her work.
The book started kind a slow for my taste but becomes very interesting as I keep turning the pages. The mystery and suspense raise on every situation that happens with the group who never though or imagine that this trip would become they’re worst nightmare.
Scams, treachery, betrayal is some of the elements we’ll find in this story, I just wish the book maintains the same rhythm through the end but wasn’t the case, the ending was so abrupt and fantasizing that for me was almost impossible to believe or digest.
One thing I liked is that we read a little bit of what’s next book is about, that was something I was thinking right when I got t the end and there’s not mention about this particular couple, well I really got caught by the chapter at the ending so I’ll be waiting for the book to published.
Thank you to BookSirens for providing an ARC on exchange for my honest review.
About Jane Marion
Jane comes from a family of story tellers. She can remember her father telling her endless witch stories as they lay together on the lounge room rug. However, the stories weren't free. The cost of each one being a prolonged back scratch. Her mother's stories were known by the neighbourhood kids as the Magic Carpet stories. A child would lie on each end of the carpet, and roll towards the centre with the carpet wrapped around them. They would fly all over the world until they landed in one country, where her mother's story would begin.
Jane has also told stories -- as a teacher of drama, and an actor, she has enjoyed taking characters from the written page and breathing life into them on stage and in the classroom.
Now she writes stories for people who love adventure, suspense and romance bundled into one gripping read.
Jane lives on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. She doesn't have a dog or cat, but she does have a much loved husband, which she thinks is almost the same. She loves long beach walks, singing, drumming, clay building, painting, traveling in their motorhome, and of course reading and spending time with her family.
